  ROOTS of
CHOCOLATE

south_america_BG.jpg

Roots of Cacao is dedicated to sharing knowledge of food culture, specifically surrounding chocolate. Chocolate, otherwise known as cacao, comes from the Theobroma cacao tree which is indigenous to the Amazon Basin in South America. Chocolate has been implemented in many different dishes over many cultures. This is due to the spread of chocolate that occurred when the Spanish conquistadors came to the Americas, specifically South America, they imported many crops and other goods to Europe. The spread of these goods changed the history of food and the future of food. We hope you find some knowledge and recipes through our site and please contribute your chocolate recipes for us to try!
